At 1405 you fix your position 262°T, 2.4 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 047°T at 6.1 kn until 1450, then 332°T at 4.8 kn until 1505.

Give the 1505 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
