At 1320 you fix your position 250°T, 1.6 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 318°T at 6.7 kn until 1345, then 255°T at 6.9 kn until 1420.

Give the 1420 DR position as the true bearing FROM Westfield church spire to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
