At 1530 you fix your position 214°T, 2.0 nm from Tern Island tower. You steer 243°T at 4.1 kn until 1605, then 084°T at 5.1 kn until 1645.

Give the 1645 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
