Dividers: drag from one point to another on the chart

Start a drag on a charted object or buoy and it snaps to it. The readout gives the true bearing (and magnetic, 7°W) from where you start to where you are, and the distance in nautical miles.

Skill 3 · Dead reckoningProblem 108007

Two legs from a 1305 fix: where is the 1350 DR?

At 1305 you fix your position 043°T, 1.9 nm from Kittle water tank. You steer 270°T at 4.1 kn until 1330, then 094°T at 5.1 kn until 1350.

Give the 1350 DR position as the true bearing FROM Kittle water tank to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
