At 1350 you fix your position 157°T, 1.2 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 279°T at 4.5 kn until 1400, then 068°T at 5.7 kn until 1415.

Give the 1415 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
