At 1155 you fix your position 218°T, 1.5 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 067°T at 8.5 kn until 1225, then 006°T at 6.1 kn until 1245.

Give the 1245 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
