At 1145 you fix your position 126°T, 0.9 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 057°T at 4.7 kn until 1215, then 186°T at 7.3 kn until 1240.

Give the 1240 DR position as the true bearing FROM Kittle water tank to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
