At 1600 you fix your position 061°T, 1.1 nm from Westfield church spire. You steer 080°T at 5.4 kn until 1645, then 217°T at 8.2 kn until 1655.

Give the 1655 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
