At 1100 you fix your position 086°T, 2.2 nm from Heron Point Light. You steer 338°T at 5.4 kn until 1110, then 092°T at 7.1 kn until 1145.

Give the 1145 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
