At 0950 you fix your position 278°T, 0.9 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 249°T at 7.4 kn until 1030, then 007°T at 5.8 kn until 1055.

Give the 1055 DR position as the true bearing FROM Heron Point Light to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
