At 1330 you fix your position 349°T, 1.6 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 023°T at 4.8 kn until 1400, then 180°T at 7.8 kn until 1440.

Give the 1440 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
