At 1140 you fix your position 036°T, 4.1 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 170°T at 8.0 kn until 1215, then 279°T at 9.7 kn until 1300.

Give the 1300 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
