At 1450 you fix your position 081°T, 3.3 nm from Westfield church spire. You steer 084°T at 4.4 kn until 1510, then 043°T at 8.6 kn until 1535.

Give the 1535 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
