At 1315 you fix your position 052°T, 2.1 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 280°T at 4.1 kn until 1325, then 332°T at 9.5 kn until 1345.

Give the 1345 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
