At 1510 you fix your position 221°T, 2.5 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 278°T at 8.8 kn until 1525, then 088°T at 8.5 kn until 1545.

Give the 1545 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
