At 1155 you fix your position 048°T, 3.4 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 211°T at 4.5 kn until 1225, then 005°T at 4.0 kn until 1255.

Give the 1255 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
