At 0940 you fix your position 254°T, 2.7 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 005°T at 4.2 kn until 0955, then 219°T at 8.9 kn until 1005.

Give the 1005 DR position as the true bearing FROM Mill stack to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
