At 1555 you fix your position 033°T, 2.1 nm from Kittle water tank. You steer 327°T at 9.7 kn until 1620, then 174°T at 8.2 kn until 1645.

Give the 1645 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
