At 1130 you fix your position 048°T, 1.5 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 035°T at 5.5 kn until 1150, then 337°T at 7.4 kn until 1210.

Give the 1210 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
