At 1210 you fix your position 027°T, 3.1 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 298°T at 5.7 kn until 1225, then 050°T at 5.6 kn until 1250.

Give the 1250 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
