At 0830 you fix your position 006°T, 1.7 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 223°T at 7.1 kn until 0905, then 123°T at 7.3 kn until 0915.

Give the 0915 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
