At 1505 you fix your position 218°T, 1.8 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 008°T at 4.4 kn until 1520, then 278°T at 9.8 kn until 1545.

Give the 1545 DR position as the true bearing FROM Heron Point Light to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
