At 1400 you fix your position 141°T, 1.2 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 267°T at 9.8 kn until 1440, then 021°T at 5.1 kn until 1525.

Give the 1525 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
