At 1410 you fix your position 005°T, 1.7 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 096°T at 7.8 kn until 1420, then 188°T at 5.4 kn until 1430.

Give the 1430 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
