At 1245 you fix your position 043°T, 3.5 nm from Westfield church spire. You steer 169°T at 5.0 kn until 1320, then 038°T at 8.9 kn until 1340.

Give the 1340 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
