At 1235 you fix your position 256°T, 2.4 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 340°T at 5.6 kn until 1315, then 176°T at 6.2 kn until 1335.

Give the 1335 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
