At 1405 you fix your position 024°T, 2.1 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 119°T at 5.1 kn until 1430, then 312°T at 8.9 kn until 1510.

Give the 1510 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
