Skill 3 · Dead reckoningProblem 162005
Two legs from a 1040 fix: where is the 1110 DR?
At 1040 you fix your position 286°T, 3.6 nm from Tern Island tower. You steer 170°T at 9.6 kn until 1100, then 120°T at 8.2 kn until 1110.
Give the 1110 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.
Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
