At 1020 you fix your position 039°T, 3.0 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 195°T at 4.8 kn until 1055, then 140°T at 5.1 kn until 1130.

Give the 1130 DR position as the true bearing FROM Kittle water tank to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
