At 0820 you fix your position 257°T, 2.9 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 280°T at 9.5 kn until 0845, then 125°T at 9.2 kn until 0915.

Give the 0915 DR position as the true bearing FROM Mill stack to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
