Skill 3 · Dead reckoningProblem 17001
Two legs from a 1320 fix: where is the 1350 DR?
At 1320 you fix your position 028°T, 3.0 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 170°T at 8.8 kn until 1335, then 310°T at 9.0 kn until 1350.
Give the 1350 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.
Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
