At 0820 you fix your position 110°T, 1.5 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 037°T at 9.7 kn until 0830, then 344°T at 5.8 kn until 0840.

Give the 0840 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
