At 0830 you fix your position 074°T, 2.4 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 342°T at 8.4 kn until 0850, then 227°T at 4.7 kn until 0910.

Give the 0910 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
