At 1600 you fix your position 040°T, 3.2 nm from Heron Point Light. You steer 024°T at 7.1 kn until 1625, then 261°T at 5.1 kn until 1640.

Give the 1640 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
