At 1125 you fix your position 304°T, 1.1 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 264°T at 5.3 kn until 1150, then 353°T at 8.9 kn until 1220.

Give the 1220 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
