At 1540 you fix your position 134°T, 3.1 nm from Tern Island tower. You steer 016°T at 5.2 kn until 1600, then 192°T at 5.0 kn until 1640.

Give the 1640 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
