At 1150 you fix your position 041°T, 4.6 nm from Westfield church spire. You steer 144°T at 4.5 kn until 1210, then 086°T at 4.5 kn until 1245.

Give the 1245 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
