At 1540 you fix your position 044°T, 2.2 nm from Westfield church spire. You steer 170°T at 9.3 kn until 1600, then 074°T at 7.5 kn until 1640.

Give the 1640 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
