At 0925 you fix your position 033°T, 3.7 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 293°T at 6.7 kn until 1010, then 239°T at 4.5 kn until 1040.

Give the 1040 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
