At 1100 you fix your position 073°T, 2.9 nm from Tern Island tower. You steer 291°T at 4.1 kn until 1125, then 127°T at 6.4 kn until 1205.

Give the 1205 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
