At 1500 you fix your position 321°T, 1.3 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 266°T at 7.2 kn until 1545, then 055°T at 9.6 kn until 1610.

Give the 1610 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
