At 1120 you fix your position 102°T, 2.4 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 250°T at 9.4 kn until 1155, then 295°T at 7.3 kn until 1235.

Give the 1235 DR position as the true bearing FROM Heron Point Light to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
