At 1010 you fix your position 045°T, 2.6 nm from Westfield church spire. You steer 155°T at 4.4 kn until 1055, then 060°T at 4.9 kn until 1130.

Give the 1130 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
