At 1150 you fix your position 187°T, 1.5 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 293°T at 8.8 kn until 1205, then 348°T at 5.0 kn until 1230.

Give the 1230 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
