At 0820 you fix your position 052°T, 3.6 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 287°T at 6.0 kn until 0850, then 048°T at 5.5 kn until 0905.

Give the 0905 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
