At 1230 you fix your position 226°T, 1.6 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 015°T at 8.6 kn until 1255, then 154°T at 6.5 kn until 1310.

Give the 1310 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
