At 1505 you fix your position 020°T, 1.0 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 168°T at 9.0 kn until 1525, then 290°T at 7.4 kn until 1550.

Give the 1550 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
