At 0805 you fix your position 044°T, 2.1 nm from Kittle water tank. You steer 334°T at 8.0 kn until 0830, then 136°T at 6.2 kn until 0845.

Give the 0845 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
