At 1230 you fix your position 163°T, 1.5 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 281°T at 6.2 kn until 1250, then 034°T at 8.9 kn until 1330.

Give the 1330 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
