At 1515 you fix your position 357°T, 1.3 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 353°T at 5.4 kn until 1545, then 094°T at 4.1 kn until 1615.

Give the 1615 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
